How does Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment work?
Pre-Recruitment Events
In the weeks before PSR, Panhellenic hosts a series of pre-recruitment events where prospective members can learn more about Greek Life and meet current members from all sororities. A google calendar including the dates and times of these events will be posted shortly.
PPR Registration and Information Sessions
All participants are required to register for PPR at least 24 hours in advance. Participants may choose to attend a virtual PPR information Session before recruitment starts (optional).
Primary Panhellenic Recruitment Process
All recruitment events are held in the evenings and on weekend days to avoid conflicts with classes. Participants are required to register for PPR at least 24 hours in advance.
As recruitment is a mutual selection process, at the end of each day, PNMs preference the chapters they would like to return to while the respective chapters (sororities) preference the PNMs they wish to extend return invitations to for the following day.
Night One | Sisterhood Round:
During the first day of PPR, participants attend events, or "rounds," at all six Panhellenic chapters. This day is meant to introduce PNMs to the different chapters and get an overview of what being in that chapter is like.
Night Two | Philanthropy Round:
During the second day of PPR, participants attend events, or "rounds," at a maximum of 4 chapters. This day focuses on a chapter’s philanthropy, involvement in Greek Sing and booth, and other events aspects unique to the individual chapter.
Night Three | Preference Round:
The final invitational event held on Sunday is Preference Night. During this event PNMs can expect to hear more about why members chose to join their chapter and have deeper conversations about what sisterhood really means.
After this day, participants rank their choices and the sororities submit a preference list. To promote equity in the recruitment process, each sorority is permitted to accept a certain number of new members. A "bid matching" process is then used to match participants based on their ranked choices and provide sororities with equally sized new member classes.
Bid Night:
To conclude PPR, PNMs will receive their “bid” from a chapter and Panhellenic hosts a final celebratory event where all chapters welcome their new members!
