The purpose of Delta Delta Delta shall be to establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members, to develop a stronger and more womanly character, to broaden the moral and intellectual life, and to assist its members in every possible way.
It shall also be the purpose of Delta Delta Delta to promote and develop mutually beneficial relationships between the Fraternity and the colleges and universities where the Fraternity has established chapters, to develop qualities of unselfish leadership among its members, and to encourage them to assume, with integrity and devotion to moral and democratic principles, the highest responsibilities of college women.
In Tri Delta, we participate in a variety of fun events throughout the year. Every fall we host a Crush Party where sisters and their guests dance the night away at a local restaurant, and every spring we have our annual formal.
Our sisterhood retreat every fall often takes us off-campus to locations such as Kennywood and provides a valuable break from day-to-day college life.
Our regular events include Delta Dates in which sisters are randomly paired up and do fun (often food-related) activities together. Larger Delta Bonding events consist of activities such as going to a sister's recital, baking treats for the house, or having a workout session in the basement.
Throughout the year, we hold a variety of events with other sororities, fraternities, and outside organizations on campus. These events range from social to service and philanthropy-oriented, and are treasured by our sisters as an opportunity to forge valuable on-campus connections. All sisters participate in either Greek Sing or Booth (or both), and the strength of our sisterhood shines through our success in these events.
National Philanthropy: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, for which Tri Delta is currently in a campaign to raise $60 million in 10 years nationally.
Signature Events: Delta House of Pancakes (DHOP), Sincerely Yours Letter Writing Campaign, Delta House of Crepes, DDDpop an event where we sell donated clothes from sisters for charity.
Other service activities: 1000+, Habitat for Humanity, Strong Women Strong Girls, Engineers Without Borders, Circle K, Alternative Spring Break, Outreach360, Global Public Heath Brigades, Sexual Assault Advisors, UNICEF, Alpha Phi Omega, Camp Kesem
Special stats: Sisters average at least 5 service hours per semester, volunteering with various local organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania and Our Clubhouse. Each year sisters run the Pittsburgh Half Marathon as part of the St. Jude Heroes team and raise more money for St. Jude.
Programming: Sisters also attend weekly Study Hours in which they do homework together while enjoying snacks from the chapter. Academics are incredibly important to us, and as evidence to this last semester we had the highest overall chapter GPA of any Panhellenic Council Chapter and Interfraternity Council Chapter on campus.
Additionally, Tri Delta provides members the chance to apply for various scholarships offered by the Fraternity.
CRESCENT FUND PROGRAM: The Tri Delta Crescent Funds provide emergency assistance to collegiate and alumnae members facing unforeseen crisis such as unexpected medical expenses, job losses or natural disasters. Through these financial grants, the Foundation fulfills Tri Delta’s Purpose of “assisting our members in every possible way” throughout their lifetime membership. Application for this program can be sent in at any time by any initiated sister, alumni or collegiate.
THE TRI DELTA FOUNDATION: The Foundation has more than 100 undergraduate and graduate scholarships available to members, and each year outstanding Tri Deltas are awarded funds to assist them on their educational journey. By supporting the academic pursuits of our sisters, the Foundation fulfills Tri Delta’s Purpose of “broadening the moral and intellectual life” of our members. Deadline for Application is March 1, for initiated sisters only.
EDUCATIONAL GRANTS: The Foundation provides funding for educational initiatives designed to enhance our members’ lives and help them develop qualities of unselfish leadership. These Foundation-funded programs include advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill for Tri Delta members to lobby on behalf of legislation that advances the fraternity and sorority experience and higher education. Educational tracks at Tri Delta’s annual leadership conferences that provide personal and professional development. Scholarships to attend the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI), a five-day leadership institute for fraternity and sorority collegiate members.
New members are expected to live in the house the school year following their initiation unless they are a member of student life, renewing a current lease, or have specific permission from our Standards Committee. The house is also open to members during the summer and provides storage options for members in the chapter.
