The Adam Smith Society is a community of business school students and alumni who believe that business, entrepreneurship, and commerce are wellsprings that keep this country vibrant, creative, prosperous, and free.

Our members are dedicated to exploring the links among the economy, government, and society through rigorous debate and discussion.

The Society aims to build an influential network of future business leaders dedicated to preserving and strengthening the free-market economic system.

In concert with dedicated MBA student leaders, the national office of the Adam Smith Society underwrites and helps to coordinate a series of exclusive on-campus events that give MBA students access to prominent business leaders, academics, journalists, and public officials. Speakers discuss their experiences and offer insights about the connections between successful businesses, the maintenance of our nation’s free institutions, and a robust civil society. The Adam Smith Society also convenes national and regional programming for student members and alumni. We hope to inspire business students to think about their own responsibility in seeing our economic system endure.

After the last large financial crisis, popular society did not look upon business leaders with kind eyes. Warranted or not, it is sometimes easy to forget the profoundly positive impacts that free-market thinking and capitalism brought to our world.

The Business and Technology Club (B&T) is a professional club focused on exposing members to career opportunities in technology functions and industries. Our goal is to develop future industry leaders by engaging with technology experts, exploring the impact of emerging technologies, facilitating business case competitions, and networking with leading professionals at the most innovative companies in the world.
B&T is the primary club contact for all recruiting, case competitions, treks, and other events with technology, e-commerce, media, and entertainment companies at Tepper. The Club sponsors a variety of exclusive events, as well as events with other clubs and cross-campus schools, such as the Welcome Weekend, to effectively prepare members, and to expose our members to new and developing technologies.

The Christian Business Association (CBA) is meant to serve the Tepper community as the nexus where Christianity and Business interact.

In the world of business the ability to confidently approach a round of golf can prove to be quite valuable as a networking tool. To that end, the Tepper Golf Club has three main aims:
1) To educate new players about the game play & etiquette.
2) To provide additional opportunities for students to golf.
3) To organize activities that will allow members to network with fellow students, alumni, faculty and employers.

While the TGC is a social club, golf is a game of integrity that has many rules and subtleties. Therefore, we seek to educate and mentor our members to ensure they conduct themselves in the proper fashion, and reflect positively upon their affiliation with Tepper.

Our flagship events include:
1) Winter Golf League (Trackman Simulator) @Bob O'Connor - a great way to brush up on your game during the dark and cold winter months.

<strong>Mission Statement And Bylaws</strong>

We, the MBA students of the Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business, establish this Charter and By-Laws for the Carnegie Mellon University Tepper School of Business Graduate Business Association (GBA) Student Government.

The GBA is hereby established as a means of representing the interests of the student body of the Carnegie Mellon University business masters programs. Through the establishment of an elected Student Government, it shall provide a platform for the discussion of issues of student concern and act as the instrument by which student interests may be voiced to the administration and faculty of the MBA program and Carnegie Mellon University.

The Student Government shall also act as an umbrella organization governing GBA supported student organizations and coordinating the distribution of funds distributed by the Tepper Administration to the student-run clubs and organizations recognized by the GBA.

The Student Government represents the interests of all members of the GBA rather than any particular organization therein.

To that end, the GBA acts on student feedback, implements new and existing school-wide initiatives and events to fulfill student needs and empowers students and student-led organizations.

-Provide an interface for students coming to the US for the first time (in terms of a welcome package with reference to life in Pittsburgh, items they should bring with them, what to expect in Pittsburgh, housing tips, etc).
-Institute a customized mentoring program within the SABA. Mentors will aim to provide insights into the classes at Tepper, life at Tepper, opportunities for international students and issues within Tepper that new students need to be aware of.
-Help members with their job search - we aim to prepare a database of South Asian Tepper alum (with their prior permission) and to use this database to help students learn more about companies they target in their career search. This is not a substitute for the COC - we believe that South Asian students will find it easier to informally speak with South Asian alumni (especially those from their respective countries), and similarly, alum would be open to help students from their countries.
-Bring in guest speakers to talk to the SABA about opportunities for international students (specifically, from South Asia). This will not conflict with the COC's recruiting activities.
Hold cultural events on festivals like Diwali or Independence Day and welcome / farewell parties.
-We are in informal discussions with similar associations in other business schools (Wharton and Columbia at this point of time) to co-ordinate and hold common activities and events. Eventually, we hope to link a number of these organizations across several business schools.

It's incredible that places as vast and beautiful as Schenley and Frick Park exist and provide recreational opportunities within Pittsburgh zip codes. And yet, the all consuming rigors of business school can make it difficult to find opportunities to experience nature. Tepper Outdoor Adventure Club seeks to provide such events and to stoke your enthusiasm to get out there!

We intend to provide Tepper and CMU students opportunities to get in touch with the outdoors through hiking, cycling, climbing, swimming, running, or other activities. Our goal with these endeavors is to help our members pursue physical fitness goals, develop relationships, and immerse in the beauty of Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas.
