About Us

The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is the premier advocacy and support organization for the advancement of the sorority experience. NPC was established in 1902 to assist collegiate and alumnae chapters of the NPC member organizations in cooperating with colleges and universities and to foster interfraternal relationships. We are committed to relationships built on trust through transparency, accountability and mutual respect. Innovation and our core values of friendship, leadership, service, knowledge, integrity and community guide us in fulfilling our mission.

Carnegie Mellon University houses six Panhellenic sororities on campus: Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Phi, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Kappa Kappa Gamma.

All six sororities are members of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). Together they strive for the four pillars of the community: sisterhood, service, scholarship, and leadership. Acting in cooperation with NPC, the Panhellenic Council, is composed of student representatives from all six chapters. They serve as the governing body for Carnegie Mellon's Panhellenic community. Among many other functions, the Panhellenic Executive Board organizes initiatives for all chapters such as recruitment, community events, educational programming, and cross-council communications that promote our community values.

Members Benefits

Sorority Provides Community: Finding a community at college matters a lot – perhaps more than ever. Sorority can provide that sense of belonging in a new place. It’s about laughter, lifelong friendships and a family that has your back no matter what. Sorority is Accessible: Sorority life welcomes women based on what they want to contribute to the world around them. Your values, what you stand for and what you want to do in life matters far more than where you come from or your socioeconomic status. Sorority Lets You Make a Difference in the Lives of Others: Being in a sorority is an invitation to help be an agent of change – in your community and in yourself. It’s an opportunity to embrace perspectives and experiences different from your own, while making an impact on campus and developing the leadership skills that can help you change the world – or at least your piece of it. Sorority is Worth It: Joining a sorority also pays off where it counts – with your future and your career. Sorority sisters not only provide a network you can draw from for internships and jobs, but they also can help push you out of you comfort zone and encourage you to take advantage of opportunities you might never have considered without their support.
