The Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) is the branch of student government that represents all graduate students at Carnegie Mellon University. The GSA’s mission is to advocate for and support the diverse needs of all CMU graduate students in their personal, professional, and public lives.

Mission
The Student Dormitory Council (SDC) aims to improve the lives of residents at CMU by providing opportunities for residents to participate in events and activities through SDC, learn about residents around campus, and receive funding for their own events!

Membership Benefits
On top of all the resources we provide to campus residents, SDC acts as a liaison between the university administration and students. We provide students with the resources and ability to give feedback to the university, and are also the first place to go to find out what’s happening around campus. Many university departments, such as the Housing and Dining Departments, work closely with SDC in order to provide the best service possible to residents and make sure that students opinions are heard. You can represent your community by attending SDC meetings!

Mission
The Student Government Director of Finance oversees the student activities fee including the allocation of funds to student organizations at Carnegie Mellon. They advocate for student organizations on financial matters, answer questions and problem solve related to the use of activities fee money, and oversee the process used to distribute and reconcile fees each year. The Joint Funding Committee (JFC) is the body that supports the budget request and allocation processes.

Mission
The Student Government Director of Organizations oversees and advocates for student organizations at Carnegie Mellon. They direct the recognition of new organizations, re-recognition of existing organizations, and allocation/management of campus space for student organizations. The Committee on Student Organizations (CoSO) and University Center Allocation Board (UCAB) are the bodies that support these processes.

The Carnegie Mellon Student Government consists of many groups, at their core governed by the Student Body Constitution. The Legislative branch consists of the Undergraduate Student Senate and the Graduate Student Assembly. The Executive branch consists of undergraduate and graduate students who work with campus advocacy, student organizations, and student finances. The Activities Board (AB) is an external committee that provides events, concerts, films, lectures, technical assistance, and other activities for the campus. The Student Dormitory Council (SDC) is composed of student representatives from campus housing and is engaged in improving the quality of student life for residents.

Mission
The Carnegie Mellon Undergraduate Student Senate is the undergraduate component of Carnegie Mellon's Student Government Legislative Branch. We are composed of student-elected representatives that represent the unique and diverse culture of our university. Elected representatives from each Carnegie Mellon college meet on a weekly basis to discuss rising issues on our campus.

Our general body meetings are every Thursday at 5:00p EST, and are open to everyone in the Carnegie Mellon community. For the 2022-23 school year, GBMs will be held in the Cohon Center Danforth Conference Room.
