Mission
Carnegie Mellon Solar Racing is a competitive solar racing team looking to promote the use of sustainable energy, namely solar-powered energy, and its use in society. The organization acts as an interdisciplinary space for students to hone their soft skills, tackle complex problems, and learn about building and maintaining a boat. We aim to provide our members with networking opportunities and engineering experience that will go on to serve them in their professional careers.
CMSR designs, constructs, and races solar-powered carbon-fiber boats. Each boat is around 6 meters long and is powered solely by solar energy. CMSR splits has 4 primary teams that design different parts of the boat: Power, Propulsion, Hull, and Optimization. We are welcome all students interested in solar power, working on hands-on engineering projects, or who love just boats.

Membership Benefits
There are no dues or required attendance.
Active members can be added to a resume list that sponsors and alumni recruit from.
All members can pursue individual projects in addition to the larger projects which occur in subteams.

The ChemE Cube team aims to design, build, and test a 1 cubic foot plant that produces a desired product based on an annual problem statement provided by the RAPID Manufacturing Institute. The team competes at the annual competition held during the AIChE Student Conference through a head-to-head duel and creation of an ad, poster, and pitch presented to judges during the competition.

You can get the opportunity to compete around the country at the annual AIChE Conference. You can develop useful career skills, and get valuable resume-building experiences in a number of fields.

We are a student run organization dedicated to bringing together people with an interest in the outdoors since 1959. We venture into the wilderness through organized activities such as rock and ice climbing, mountaineering, caving, hiking, backpacking, flat and white water boating, sailing, skydiving, mountain biking, scuba diving, and more.

Trips: CMU Explorers organizes and facilitates outdoor trips. The vast majority of our events and trips are announced on our mailing lists, so be sure to subscribe to those for announcements and/or to announce a trip that you'd like to lead!

Gear Checkout: We offer free gear checkout for our dues-paying membversGear checkout and return usually occurs at the storeroom at 6:30pm on Thursdays. Please contact our quartermaster ahead of time to arrange a check out or return. (Gear checkout on Thursday will NOT happen if no one indicates through email that they are coming.) Alternative appointments may be possible by contacting the officers list (see below).

As a chapter of national DFA, we use the human centered design process empathize and work with our users we research, ideate, prototype, test and develop solutions.

We collaborate in teams of students with diverse backgrounds and interests to develop well-rounded solutions and fuse collaboration, leadership, and creativity.

Student-led teams partner closely with local community organizations identify challenging social issues to design and develop comprehensive solutions that benefit the broader community.

GBB has a tremendous impact on CMU students. The experience of traveling to another country with a great group of friends, getting to know countless hardworking individuals in a country that likely speaks another language, and using our unique skills to help their community as much as we can is an unforgettable memory for students.
