Who out there wants $20,000? Who wants a chance to hobnob with executives from one of the largest companies in the world by market cap? Net Impact, Operations Club, Energy Club and EVC are excited to present Jim Stanway, Senior Director of Global Supplier Initiatives at Walmart.  On Thursday, Nov. 7th at 12:30pm, Jim Stanway will be speaking about his illustrious career working in operations and sustainability at Walmart. In addition, Stanway will be kicking off the Walmart Better Living Business Plan Challenge which begins in late November and happens in the spring––plenty of time to work on your idea.

Club members will be given priority to sign up for this speaker series. Capacity will be limited so sign up today. It's not too late to sign up for any of the four clubs if you want to take advantage of this special opportunity.

Students vie for the unprecedented opportunity to present their business plan to a panel of Walmart executives, suppliers, and environmental organizations. Competitors develop confidence, hone their ideas, receive feedback and constructive coaching from business experts, and compete for seed money to help launch their business:

Grand Prize: $20,000

First Prize: $10,000

Second Prize: $5,000

All semi-finalists receive a stipend for travel, hotel, and meals

Jim Stanway, Senior Director - Global Supplier Initiatives is responsible for Walmart's greenhouse gas strategy, including the recently announced supply chain carbon reduction goal.  This involves business and product development activities aimed at profitable greenhouse gas measures for customers and the supply chain. Jim has direct responsibility for Walmart's Carbon Disclosure Project supply chain work. Additionally manages teams that install renewable power projects at stores and distribution centers. He has 19 years of energy industry experience including five years with a deregulated power marketing company, three years with a regulated investor-owned utility and the balance with Walmart Stores managing energy procurement, conservation, business planning and strategy in all 50 states and internationally. He has testified before the U.S. Senate and appeared at U.S. Congressional panels regarding energy, climate change and national security. Jim has an Economics degree from Bellarmine University, Louisville, KY.
