Greek Sing raises $59,147 for the Homeless Children's Education Fund

Greek Sing was on March 25, 2023! Greek Sing is a long-standing, student-operated, campus tradition. This mini-musical competition brings together our fraternity and sorority community surrounding philanthropy and the arts. The students write, arrange, rehearse, and perform 13-minute musicals and put on a fantastic show!
For the second year, Greek Sing supported the Homeless Children's Education Fund (HCEF). HCEF was established in 1999 to support the educational needs of children experiencing homelessness in Allegheny County. This year, over months of fundraising and throughout the event, Greek Sing raised $59,147 for HCEF! Delta Gamma was awarded first place for the Philanthropy Award for raising over $10,000 as an organization for HCEF.
We thank the chapters who supported this cause and congratulate our winners across various categories.

Sarah Chen, Delta Gamma President, Receives Pittsburgh Alumnae Panhellenic Scholarship

Sarah Chen, Delta Gamma President, is the recipient of a $1,200 scholarship from the Pittsburgh Alumnae Panhellenic. This scholarship is awarded to a Panhellenic undergraduate member who is either attending a college or university in the Pittsburgh area or has a permanent residence in the Pittsburgh area. Sarah was one of three scholarship recipients. There were twenty-seven scholarship applicants. Sarah was recognized at the Pittsburgh Alumnae Panhellenic Scholarship Benefit Luncheon on Saturday, March 25 at the South Hill Country Club. She provided a few remarks to attendees by thanking the selection committee and providing an explanation of how this scholarship will allow her to “do good” in her academics and co-curricular leadership roles. Sarah was able to network with Delta Gamma alumnae and other Panhellenic alumnae members in the area. Marissa Montadas, sorority sister, was able to attend the luncheon with her. This scholarship application opens every October.

Congratulations Sarah!

Brother of Pike Wins a Golden Ticket to Hollywood

Tripp Taylor, a first-year student at CMU and a brother of Pi Kappa Alpha, aces his audition for American Idol in Nashville, TN. Taylor sings "I Believe to My Soul," by Ray Charles. Katy Perry and Luke Bryan comment that Taylor may just be Lionel Richie's long-lost son. Congratulations Tripp! We will all be rooting for you!
Check out the WTAE article and interview with Tripp Taylor!

Fraternity and Sorority Advisors Collaboration

We are so excited to see our students at the Regional NPHC and MGC Conference, "Strong Chapters, Stronger Councils," on Saturday!

Move-In Volunteers

Fraternity and sorority life members have been long-standing volunteers for First-Year Move-In. This is a great opportunity to welcome the newest class of Tartans and introduce them to fraternity and sorority life. Volunteers are encouraged to wear chapter merch during move-in. Move-in is scheduled for Saturday, August 19 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Volunteers who will be living in on-campus housing for the 23-24 academic year, can move in early on Friday, August 18. Volunteers should sign up by July 12.

There are fraternity and sorority life community recruitment events in the works to be held during orientation. It would be great to have representatives from each chapter at those events to show how vibrant our community is. Your governing council will be providing more information about these recruitment events.
