About Us

The Society of Physics Students (SPS) aims to engage all members of the Carnegie Mellon University Physics Department through weekly meetings and physics-themed events. It particularly focuses on undergraduate physics majors, promoting excitement about physics as well as personal and professional growth. The organization’s activities offer opportunities to socialize and to learn more about the paths available to them as physics students. This organization is established as a local chapter of the National Society of Physics Students Chapter # 991 within Zone 7. This organization also manages the local Sigma Pi Sigma physics honor society chapter # 483 The name of this organization shall be "The Carnegie Mellon University Society of Physics Students," abbreviated "CMU SPS."
