We are very excited to begin another exciting semester at CMU Poker Club! Whether you joined yesterday or are a longtime member, we are happy to have you here. You do not need to be an experienced poker player to join the club, as the mission of CMU Poker Club is the following:
The CMU Poker Club strives to be a hub for the poker community at Carnegie Mellon University to meet, learn, and play. We aim to engage all manner of poker players with a wide array of events that include everything from charity tournaments and interactive workshops to guest speakers and networking opportunities. Outside of CMU, we seek to build lasting connections with trading firms and other companies that are interested in students with the strategic and analytical skills developed through poker.
In practice, this means that we host a variety of events, primarily of the following types:1. Educational Workshops - We will discuss everything about how to play poker, from the basic rules to beginner and advanced strategy.
2. Casual Meetings -These are opportunities to play poker with your friends and other members of the club. We will also host games with prizes!
3. Larger Tournaments/Sponsored Events - We run large tournaments that mimic the experience of official poker tournaments, hosted here on campus! Our sponsors will also attend these events to talk to our members, and we may host other types of events at their request.
Poker Club has no dues, fees, or time commitment. Simply show up to our events if you are interested in learning an incredible strategic game, meeting new people around campus, or professional opportunities with our sponsors!
