What Are The Prizes?
The winning team receives a grand prize of $3,500.

The case competition is meant to give graduate master's level students of Carnegie Mellon University the opportunity to solve a real healthcare problem in teams of 3-5 members. Teams will also be able to meet and engage with corporate leaders from top healthcare and biotechnology firms, such as Vertex Pharmaceuticals, who will be serving as judges.

Applications are open now and will be accepted through October 17, 2021. Team applications, as well as individual applications, will be accepted. Individual applications will randomly be formed into teams of three to five members. Sign-up by clicking the button above or here.

The competition consists of two rounds.
The Qualifying Round:
Case prompts will be distributed October 20th. Teams will have 5 days to develop a PowerPoint presentation in response to the prompt. This is to help ensure that teams have enough time to coordinate among their members/conflicting schedules. PowerPoints are due October 25th for judging. The judges will then determine the top 5 teams that move forward to the final round.
The Final Round:
These top 5 teams will present to Vertex Pharmaceuticals executive leadership on October 29th. The winners will be announced at the conclusion of the competition that day. Teams who did not make it to the final round are still welcome to attend the case presentations.
