How It Works

CMU Debate hosts weekly training sessions tailored towards newcomers, which cover the basics of argument formation, public speaking, and rebuttal techniques. You can join at any time simply by showing up to a session. When you feel ready to take on competitive debates, you can fill out an application form, and we will interview you to make sure you are prepared to go to a tournament. Whether you’re a seasoned debater or have never debated in your life, CMU Debate Club provides the tools, guidance, and resources you need to learn and excel.
