Mission Carnegie Mellon Solar Racing is a competitive solar racing team looking to promote the use of sustainable energy, namely solar-powered energy, and its use in society. The organization acts as an interdisciplinary space for students to hone their soft skills, tackle complex problems, and learn about building and maintaining a boat. We aim to provide our members with networking opportunities and engineering experience that will go on to serve them in their professional careers.CMSR designs, constructs, and races solar-powered carbon-fiber boats. Each boat is around 6 meters long and is powered solely by solar energy. CMSR splits has 4 primary teams that design different parts of the boat: Power, Propulsion, Hull, and Optimization. We are welcome all students interested in solar power, working on hands-on engineering projects, or who love just boats.
