About Us

The Bangladeshi Student Organization (BSO) at Carnegie Mellon University aims to provide a home for students and faculty of Bengali descent. Our mission is to foster a supportive environment where Bengali students can celebrate and stay connected to their cultural heritage. We are equally committed to building an inclusive community that welcomes all CMU students who are interested in learning about Bangladeshi culture, traditions, and perspectives.

Members Benefits

Becoming a member of the Bangladeshi Student Organization (BSO) at CMU offers students a chance to connect with a supportive and vibrant community. Members can celebrate traditional Bangladeshi festivals such as Eid, Pohela Boishakh, and International Mother Language Day, fostering a strong cultural connection even while away from home. BSO also creates a welcoming space for all CMU students—regardless of background—who are interested in exploring Bangladeshi culture through food, music, storytelling, and shared experiences. Members benefit from opportunities to grow as leaders by organizing events and taking part in community outreach. In addition, the organization provides a valuable network for professional connections and personal friendships, helping students find both support and joy during their time at CMU.
